Using Webcams - How To Make New Friends Using A Webcam

Webcams can be a fun way to get to know a person. When I first got on the internet there were no webcams. In fact the large majority of people did not own a digital camera. So when you started talking to people online it would usually begin with the acronym "a/s/l?" Which stood for "age, sex, and location?" This was the way that we began communicating and finding out about the other person. After that we usually said "describe yourself?" More often than not the person pretended to be someone they were not. With use of a webcam you can see who it is you are talking to immediately. The webcam helps people to communicate better. Webcams can be purchased for hardly anything today.

When you turn on your webcam and the person inviting you turns on theirs, a whole new perspective on things emerges. You are now communicating to a real, live person. Before you turned on the cam it seemed like everything was just words. Now there are emotions associated with those words. If your cam has a microphone then it is even better. It is second only to being live on a date with them. There are benefits to a webcam over a date because typically the person on the other end is a lot less nervous than if they were on an actual date.

Webcams help people to be able to communicate at such a higher level than just plain text. I cannot tell you how many times I have had someone misunderstand what I am saying when I type something out. I will tell a joke, or make a wisecrack and they will respond, "Are you mad at me?" I am sure everyone has had this happen. When we use a webcam we see the other person's reactions, we see their smile, or their raised eyebrows. It becomes obvious that they were kidding and no one is mad. Webcams make communication 1000% better online,

Today's decent webcams will run you about $50. They come with all kinds of neat features. You want a webcam that records at least 30 frames per second. That is the standard rate you are used to seeing on television. Some cams even come with a movable lens that will follow your face if you move while talking to your friends. There are webcams now available for $10. They aren't great, and I recommend you spend at least $50 to get a nice one, but if you really need a cam ten dollars will get you one you can use until you can save up for a good one. Most cams plug into your computer's USB port and don't require any additional software. Just fire up your Yahoo Messenger or whatever you use and have fun.

Webcams have changed the way we meet and get to know other people online. There are webcams to meet everyone's budget. They allow us to communicate with others without many of the miscommunications that we used to experience online. There is no substitute to being able to see someone's eyes when they are talking to you.
