Open Enrollment for the 2021 insurance period is set to begin on November 1st, and while many people view as a chore, it’s worth taking the time to understand the process and weigh your options. Spending even just a few minutes doing some research can save you money and grant you access better healthcare by ensuring that you are taking advantage of all the opportunities that Open Enrollment brings.

Take Control of Your Health Insurance

While it’s true that most states no longer have a tax penalty under the individual mandate for those who lack health insurance, the benefits of having a policy make it a wise decision for most people. Health insurance gives you peace of mind that you and your loved ones will be well taken care of in the event of a medical emergency.

Open Enrollment is your chance to take control of your health insurance, during which you can:

Change your existing policy, which might help save you money

Access new or more suitable healthcare providers

Add or change who is included on your policy

What Is Open Enrollment 2021?

Health insurance can be a confusing and complex topic. Navigating the options, parts, co-pays and networks associated with different providers can sometimes seem insurmountable.

That’s why TrueCoverage offers extensive health insurance advice to help people find the best plan for their needs. The Open Enrollment period is the perfect time for you to make use of that advice and take out a new policy for the 2021 plan year.

Quick Facts

Open Enrollment runs from Sunday November 1 – Tuesday December 15 2020.

    Coverage starts January 1, 2021.

Price previews for Marketplace plans will be available just before Open Enrollment 2021 starts.

Enrollment for 2020 is over, unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

Existing plans will roll over unless a subscriber takes action.

What If I Have an Existing Plan?

A lot of people assume that the Open Enrollment period is just for people who do not have health insurance, but it can be a great time to revisit your existing plan as well.

If someone already has a health insurance policy, they can use the Open Enrollment period as a chance to review that policy, shop around, and switch to another plan or provider if their existing one no longer fits their needs.

Over the last year, a lot of insurance companies have changed their plans, and some have removed their policies from marketplaces or modified what they offer.

This means your existing plan may no longer be quite right for you.

Even if the plan is relatively unchanged, your family may have changed. You may have:

A new job in a different area

More or fewer people in your household

A change in your health status, meaning more or fewer doctor’s visits than expected

A need for a drug that is not on your insurer’s approved list

A wish to use a specialist that’s not part of your current network

Plans to start a family in the near future

    Plans for elective treatments

It’s always a good idea to think about your current circumstances, your future plans and whether your health insurance policy meets your needs.

While it is possible to change insurance provider at other times of the year, the annual Open Enrollment period is the easiest time of year to do it, and it’s the ideal time to get a good deal, too.

Are You Making the Most of Your Health Insurance?

In 2019, it is estimated that 92% of Americans had some form of health insurance, with private health insurance being more common than public insurance.

A lot of families shop for the cheapest health insurance that they can find. While this may be suitable if you’re very young, low risk and on a low income, it’s often better for folks to invest a little more in their coverage as they age and as their families grow.

Paying a slightly higher premium comes with perks — typically, you’ll pay a lot less over the course of the year for consultations, treatment and medications.

Take a look at what your health insurance offers currently. Are you taking full advantage of it? If your policy allows you to have regular physicals or other preventative and wellness care, have you been making use of those appointments?

When you’re considering a new policy, think about how often you need to see a medical professional. You can do this by:

Working out your medical expenses for the previous year

    Considering your future care needs

Do you have a chronic condition?

        Is your job high-risk?

Thinking about the rest of your family and their future care needs

Considering whether you have savings that would cover unexpected co-pays or expenses

Once you’ve worked out your likely healthcare expenditure for the year, talk to an expert and ask them to recommend a plan that will cover those needs.

Adding Family Members to Your Health Insurance

When you purchase a health insurance plan, you have the option of adding dependents.

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a child is classed as a dependent until the age of 26. This means it’s possible for you to keep an adult child on your health insurance even if they have moved out and are now married as long as they are still under 26 years of age.

You can include your own children, foster children or adopted children in your plan. If those children have siblings or children of their own, they can also be included in your plan.

Once a child turns 26, they will need to arrange their own care. Some medium-sized and large employers have an employer health insurance plan that is covered under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), which means the child can ask to have their policy extended for up to 36 months, but once that time period is up, they will need to find their own plan.

Children aren’t the only people who can be added as dependents on health insurance. You may also be able to add elderly relatives if you are responsible for caring for them. However, at age 65 those relatives will become eligible for Medicare.

Why Add People to Your Health Insurance?

Adding children or other relatives that are dependent upon you to your health insurance ensures that they have access to affordable healthcare and is often less expensive than having separate policies for each person.

There are tax exemptions associated with the number of dependents that a person claims, and spreading the out-of-pocket maximum across several people can reduce premiums, too. In the event that someone you care for needs to receive extensive medical care or requires a long course of medication, it can be helpful to have them on a shared policy.

At TrueCoverage, we have a variety of individual and family health insurance options, helping you to access the care you need in an affordable and easy to understand package, whether that’s for yourself or your whole family. If you’d like to take advantage of the Open Enrollment period for 2021 to change your coverage or take out a new package, browse our range of affordable medical insurance plans or contact us for a free, no obligation quote. We’re here to help you get the best value and peace of mind.

KN95 Mask vs N95 Mask – Current FDA Guidelines Surrounding COVID-19 Pandemic

Filtering respirator face piece masks are subject to various regulatory standards and compliance guidelines from around the world. These guidelines and standards specify the required physical properties, performance characteristics and functionality necessary for achieving a particular standard within a particular country. During emergency situations such as epidemics and pandemics, health authorities may authorize the use of certain foreign standards of face piece respirators such as N95, KN95, or FFP2 equivalent. This article will seek to identify and describe some of the most commonly available respirator standards around the world as well as provide a summary of the current regulatory framework under the FDA in the United States with respect to the 2019 novel coronavirus and associated COVID-19 pandemic. This article was last updated on May 7th, 2020.

The most common face-piece respirator standards from across the globe are as follows:

    N95/N99 – United States NIOSH

    FFP2/FFP3 – Europe CE EN 149:2001+A1:2009

    KN95 – China GB2626-2006

    Special 1st – Korea KMOEL – 2017-64

    P95 – Mexico NOM-116-2009

    P2/P3 – Australia AS/NZS 1716:2012

    DS/DL2/DL3 – Japan JMHLW-200

N95 Respirator Masks

In the United States, the most commonly available and well-known respirators are the N95 facepiece respirators which filter up to 95% of particles and create an air tight seal around the face. These type of respirator masks are not specifically regulated by the FDA, rather they are regulated by the CDC and NIOSH. The FDA may regulate an N95 mask if the manufacturer chooses to market the mask for a medical purpose, and in such case it would need an FDA clearance. However, on March 2, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the FDA released guidance that certain NIOSH approved respirators not currently regulated by the FDA are cleared to be used in a healthcare setting by health care personnel during the emergency coronavirus outbreak (Source FDA https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/coronavirus-covid-19-update-fda-and-cdc-take-action-increase-access-respirators-including-n95s).

FFP2 Respirator Masks

FFP2 respirator masks are certified by the European Union to meet the standards of CE regulation EN 149:2001+A1:2009 for filtering up to 94% of particles. In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, on March 28th, 2020, the FDA announced that certified European CE EN-149 FFP2 respirator masks are cleared for emergency use under certain conditions when there is a shortage of NIOSH approved N95 respirators: (Source FDA https://www.fda.gov/media/136403/download?from=singlemessage&isappinstalled=0 )

KN95 Respirator Masks

KN95 masks are regulated by the Chinese government under regulation GB2626-2006 and are rated to filter 95% of particles. In April of 2020, in order to help expand the availability of general use face masks for the general public and particulate filtering facepiece respirators for healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic, the FDA issued guidance authorizing the use of KN95 masks as suitable NIOSH alternatives under certain emergency circumstances (Source:FDA https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/personal-protective-equipment-infection-control/faqs-shortages-surgical-masks-and-gowns and FDA https://www.fda.gov/media/136449/download).

On May 7th of 2020, the FDA updated the April guidance and issued further guidance limiting the use of certain KN95 masks as suitable NIOSH alternatives in a healthcare setting (Source: FDA https://www.fda.gov/media/136664/download).

N95 Masks vs KN95 Masks vs FFP2

N95 and KN95 masks both filter up to 95% of particles and create an air tight seal around the face. Under the current US regulatory framework mentioned above, as of April 8th 2020, the FDA has authorized the emergency use of KN95 masks and  FFP2 masks where there is a shortage of NIOSH approved N95 masks (Source:FDA https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/personal-protective-equipment-infection-control/faqs-shortages-surgical-masks-and-gowns and FDA https://www.fda.gov/media/136449/download).

On May 7th of 2020, the FDA updated the April guidance and issued further guidance limiting the use of certain KN95 masks as suitable NIOSH alternatives in a healthcare setting (Source: FDA https://www.fda.gov/media/136664/download).

Other differences between N95 masks vs KN95 masks are that KN95 masks often use the earloop method of wearing the respirator whereas the N95 masks use a two head-strap attachments, one that goes around the back of the head under the ears and another that goes on the top over the crown of the head above the ears. It really comes down to personal preference in terms of which one is more comfortable for the wearer as well as the level of safety and protection one feels is necessary given the particular activity being carried out.

Personally, I find that the KN95 is easier and faster to put on and take off whereas the N95 seems to fit much more snug and with a tighter and firmer fit. Further, I find that the N95 masks, due to the tightness of the seal, are slightly more uncomfortable to wear, but give a feeling of greater protection. Another factor to consider is that NIOSH approved N95 masks tend to be a little pricier than the KN95/FFP2 variants.

How SEO And Content Marketing Work Together

When looking to drive traffic to your website, you’ve more than likely already looked into using SEO. SEO – or Search Engine Optimisation – is the act of researching and building a list of suitable keywords to work into your site content. The idea is that the inclusion of these terms will allow your content to rank higher in search engine results, leading to an increase in site traffic from internet users looking up these terms online.

However, SEO alone, however effectively you think you have applied it, isn’t enough to guarantee those excellent results. You must also look at the content that you are designing for the purpose of increasing web traffic and ensure that this is strong enough to encourage internet users to not only click the link, but stay on the page, too.

Why Isn’t Good SEO Enough?

When we create content for the sole purpose of using SEO keywords, it can be easy to just write as though you are ticking the boxes – put simply, you could be writing on autopilot, believing that as long as the keywords are there, the content you have created is effective. However, that simply isn’t the case.

Site content which has been written for the purpose of increasing traffic, if written in this way, can simply appear disjointed and almost soulless, and likely will not read as well to those who do visit the page. For SEO content to be effective, both the SEO and the body of the content must be strong as individual components.

Another mistake that businesses often make in the creation of SEO content is believing that the more keywords you use, the more effective the content will be in increasing traffic. In actual fact, using SEO keywords to create effective content marketing pieces is very much a case of less is more.

If you use too many keywords, you could be in danger of actually harming your search engine ranking. In trying to include a long list of keywords, the content itself could be all over the place and won’t be helpful to site visitors or, detrimentally to your business, encourage the traffic you were hoping to see.

When we, as internet users, look for content regarding a specific topic via a search engine, we want to see content that is centred around that one particular topic. Content created for the sole purpose of cramming in as many keywords as possible will more than likely lack clear direction, and is therefore unhelpful to the site visitors you were hoping to attract.

Why Isn’t Good Content Effective Alone?

So, if SEO alone isn’t enough to secure an increase in traffic, what about forgoing the keywords and simply aiming to create the best content possible? Unfortunately, that won’t work alone, either.

Inbound marketing is about just that – marketing. Even if you were to create incredible site content, which is clear in its objectives and is incredibly well-designed, it will be ineffective in helping your site if it never reaches your target demographic in the first place.

Think of it in the way that traditional advertising works. A company could have the very best product on the market, something which solves a problem that has been around for years. The company pays to have an incredible advertisement made for the product and then… runs the advert on a satellite TV channel at 3am. No matter how good the product is or the advertisement for it, it will never get the traction that it needs if nobody sees it!

In this case, the product is your site and the advertisement is the content that you are placing onto it in order to increase traffic. However, in order to put that content in front of people, you have to ensure that you are giving it the best chance in the search engine ranks by choosing effective SEO keywords. That way, users who are searching those keywords will come across your content and visit your site – giving you the all-important increase in traffic that you are looking for.

So, well-researched SEO and high-quality content are both important, but either can only be effective when used together.

How Should I Create Good SEO Content?

The best way to go about creating high-quality inbound marketing content is to first decide what content you will create. The best way to do that is to start with one question: which one key piece of information am I looking to deliver with this content? By giving yourself just one clear topic for the content, you will be able to not just write it more effectively, but find the best keywords more effectively, too.

Remember, though, this content must be relevant to your site, and should be easy to naturally work your keywords into.

In order to identify the best keywords to use, list the topics that you would like to rank highly for in search engines. For example, if you were the owner of an online pet accessories store, you might want to rank highly for ‘cat accessories’, ‘coats for large dogs’, ‘best dog food’, etc. Then, using these terms, create a short list of different keywords (remember, less is more!) that could be effectively worked into these topics.

Working off this example, the pet store owner may decide that the question they wish to answer with their content is ‘what are the ten must-have accessories for puppy owners?’. This is an ideal topic, as it answers one question and is relevant to users of their site, and can easily have a short list of keywords naturally worked into it, such as ‘best puppy food’, ‘beds for puppies’ or ‘puppy leads’, meaning that the content will rank higher and – when visitors do visit the page – will be of high-quality. It can also be worked to direct readers to use that particular site itself, increasing not just traffic, but sales, too!

Put simply, the most important rule to remember is that great SEO and high-quality content must be used hand-in-hand in order to effectively increase site traffic. Once you know how, everyone can do this with very little trouble!

Finding a Good Strapless Bra

You finally found the best top, but it has no straps. You need a strapless bra to wear under this favourite top, so that it looks perfect. You don't want to leave the beloved top in the shop because you just don't have the right bra! Gals, you need to spend some time getting your boobs the proper support! If you're going strapless this summer, then these tips will helpful in finding a strapless bra that fits well.

Getting measured should be the first thing. Many women think they are properly sized, but when was the last time you verified it? Have you ever had your bust size measured by a professional? It is particularly important that you know your precise bra size when buying a strapless bra as it must fit properly. If you are unable to have a private fitting in a boutique why not ask a member of staff at your preferred lingerie store if they would measure you? It will take five minutes, but it can help you to avoid much of the hassle of finding a bra that really fits your body well.

You need to buy your bras in person. When you order a pair of pants, t-shirts, dresses--even shoes, you know if they don't fit you can return them. One of the most disheartening purchases, are the pretty bras you ordered that don't fit as well as you had hoped. Not only are you out of the money you spent on it, but that pretty new bra is just going to taunt you every time you open your dresser drawer. When considering strapless bras, this is especially true. Bras are frequently not returnable! Girls, don't take this risk! It's essential you shop for strapless bras in person. How can you tell what you will look like wearing it? You don't know how it will look with a particular dress. The strapless bra might be annoying because of the type of grip it has. You can only know these things if you've tried out a bra yourself. Thus, don't waste money on a strapless bra which does not fit well. Wear it before you buy it!

Select a well-made, quality, bra with no straps. Before wearing a strapless dress you should wear a well supported bra made for such dresses, so that it looks the way you want it to. Without proper time and research, you can't expect your bra to give you the necessary support all day. You need to buy bras that are made of high-quality materials from well-known brands. Opt for a bra which has a good shape and thick material. Strapless, seamless bras are something you should stay away from, no matter what. These just don't look right! You will be happy that you spent the extra money on a bra that actually fits you and will see you through for a few years.

You need a strapless bra with rubber in it. It does not require straps for support, instead it relies on a rubber edging to grip the body and prevent the bra from moving. Rubber is a major component of a good bra, and it's definitely something that can't be overlooked. A correctly fitting strapless bra usually has soft rubber running around the top and base edge of the bra for extra comfort. If you want to make sure that the strapless bra that you want to buy will fit well, check to make sure that it has enough rubber and that the rubber isn't uncomfortable.

Safe Online Shopping: 10 Tips to Avoid Getting Burned

You need to buy gifts for the holidays and you need to purchase them quickly. You can either brave the madness of shopping at your local mall or kick back at home and buy all your gifts online. Doing your holiday shopping online can be a great way to save time while you find the right gifts at the best price. You'll skip the parking lot wars, avoid getting the flu from your fellow shoppers, and stay out of pick-pockets' crosshairs. But though it may be easy and convenient to shop in your pajamas, you still need to take precautions to make sure your electronic 'purse strings' are safe and secure. Here are some simple tips for safe online shopping:

Secure your computer. Make sure your home computer has updated security software installed, and run regular system check to keep hackers' keylogging viruses away.

ONLY shop from home. Don't do your online shopping from the local café, the airport or other public places. These open networks are easier targets for identity thieves to hack into your computer. Only shop from your secured home network.

Click carefully. Your favorite store just sent you a great coupon! But wait! Before you click on email links, be sure of where they lead. Scam emails can look just like the real ones from your favorite stores, with links that appear to take you to legitimate sites. But hover over the link and you may see a different web address - this could be a fake site, designed to gather your credit card information for fraud. Your safest bet is to manually navigate to your favorite retailer's website.

Know thy merchant. One of best parts of online shopping is easily comparing prices to find a great deal. You may find the gift you want for half the price - but make sure the merchant is reputable and trustworthy. If you haven't done business with a merchant before, look for online reviews. Using aggregators like Amazon.com and Yahoo Shopping is another good way to make sure your merchant doesn't take you for a fraudulent sleigh ride.

Lock down your site. When you visit a retailer's website, look for "https" at the beginning of the URL. This "s" - along with a small gold lock in the lower-right corner of your browser - indicates an extra level of security for your online shopping.

Log out. Always logout securely when leaving a website.

Check if your payment details are stored. Some online shopping sites ask if you want to store your payment details for future purchases. It's always handy to have your information stored, especially if you use that site often. But, watch out for this on lesser-known websites.

Compare 'real' prices. Make sure you know how much you will be charged for shipping, and if there are any taxes or fees that will be added to your online purchase. These 'extras' can add up quickly, so be sure you include them when comparison shopping. Many retailers offer free shipping around the holidays, and others allow free in-store pick-up of your online purchases - easy ways to add extra savings to your holiday shopping.

Know the Return Policy. Read the merchant's return policy before making your purchase. One of the downsides of online shopping is the inability to 'try it on' or see the item before purchasing, so make sure your merchant offers you an easy way to return/refund your purchase if it's not what you expected.

Choose Credit - not Debit. If possible, use a credit card to pay for online purchases. Federal law limits your liability to $50 in the event of fraud. Better yet, many credit card companies will waive this liability, and offer advanced fraud protection and detection programs to keep you safe.

Keep an eye out. If you are doing a lot of online shopping, make sure to check your account and credit card statements regularly to verify all charges. If you have questions about a transaction or suspect fraud, call your financial institution immediately.

Save your Receipts! Just as with in-store shopping, you'll want to save all your receipts from online shopping. You may choose to save emailed receipts on your computer, or print them out and file with other receipts.

Choosing The Best Medical Examination Gloves

Medical examination gloves are gloves made for healthcare specialists, to prevent infectious particles from coming in contact of the body of patients. These gloves have a very important role to play, specially during operations and other emergencies.

There are different types of medical gloves such as latex gloves, nitrile gloves and vinyl gloves. Different people go for different gloves, choice depending upon their usage style and purpose. Price is also a consideration when choosing a medical examination glove, but that has very less weightage when compared to others. Here are few of the most popular types of exam gloves that is presently being used:

Latex gloves: Quality natural rubber latex is used to produce the latex gloves. They are dual faced with a smooth surface. These gloves have been premier choice of professionals taking up surgeries, or involved in high risk and heavy duty jobs. These latex gloves have sticky surface allowing the wearer to hold instruments firmly and their skin tight fitting helps them pose like a second skin and make no problem in working. Being of latex, they may not be good for people allergic to it. But their benefits are enough to ensure their presence in every hospital, clinic or medical healthcare centre.

Vinyl gloves: Being economical in pricing, these vinyl gloves are ideal for frequent everyday use. These are not so suitable for surgeries or high risk situations when the wearer comes in contact with patient's body fluid. The vinyl gloves are low in strength and thus are prone to wear and tear with repeated use.

Nitrile gloves: Nitrile gloves are highly durable and resistant to wear and tear. These gloves are activated by your body heat bringing a perfect-fit size for the wearer. Similar to latex gloves, nitrile gloves too have a sticky outer surface enabling the wearer to hold things perfectly well. These are highly recommended in the medical field. Additionally, they also help avoid skin contact with oil, grease and solvents, and are ideal for use in automobile industry.

Synthetic gloves: Combination of nitrile and vinyl gloves make the new synthetic gloves. It offers stronger resistance compared to standard vinyl gloves and are far cheaper when compared to nitrile gloves. Choosing the right kind of medical examination gloves might be crucial for the patient's life. Therefore, it must be done in the right manner with all knowledge of the benefits each medical glove may offer.
